Overslade Community Association

The Overslade Community Association (OCA) is a registered. charity (no. 1001763) and its aims are:

  • To advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the inhabitants of Overslade in Rugby, Warwickshire

Specifically, the OCA's objectives are:

  1. For the Overslade Community Centre to be regarded as the natural centre for recreation and social support for residents.
  2. For the Overslade Community Centre to be regarded as 'their centre' by residents of all ages, especially young people.
  3. To work with Oakfield Centre to provide complementary activities

The OCA charity are active in the local community and most are active in the OCA committee that deals with day to day management of the Centre. The OCA committee is elected annually from the community, and especially represents organisations using the Centre. Committee meetings are every six weeks and are open to the public and residents are encouraged to bring ideas. Key Committee members are professionals in industry, the church, local government and social services, who are resident in or near Overslade district and all are committed to the success of the project.

The OCA has identified its key values that are as follows:

  1. Provides its services to residents of Overslade estate and the neighbourhood regardless of ethnicity, religion, politics, gender or age.
  2. Fosters a climate that encourages people to have better chances in life, including being able to get better access to training and development to improve their life skills.
  3. Encourages a strong and healthy community, with more active citizens, working together to tackle their problems.
